◆ Work Description
The Localization Specialist is responsible for three core functions: translation, voice-over recording, and narrative review. Key responsibilities include:
- Translating and reviewing of in-game content, templates, press releases, and all product-related text in the language of expertise.
- Editing grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and language-specific slang in the language of expertise.
- Managing each step of the localization process by facilitating handoffs between stakeholders and keeping requests on track.
- Creating and updating game-specific localization style guides.
- Ensuring consistent use of terminology and style across in-game and out-of-game content.
- Assisting with build LQA testing.
- Attending voice-over recording sessions to guide studios and voice actors, and providing interpretation for development studios.
- Collaborating with the Localization Copy Editor and reviewing their edits and feedback.
- Understanding and summarizing each project’s narrative, distributing narrative-related materials to relevant stakeholders and keeping these materials up to date.
- Handling narrative-related tasks such as revising marketing assets.
- Reviewing the quality of external localization work, and providing guidance, feedback, and support to outsourcing partners and/or development studios to help them meet internal quality standards.
- Participating in game tests and providing insights to support publishing decisions.
- Providing regular project status and progress reports to the Project Lead and Localization Lead.
◆ Requirements
- Native/bilingual in Korean and English
- More than 4 years of gaming translation experience or similar role
- Knowledge of common CAT tools such as MemoQ, Trados and/or similar
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Korean
- Able to work within given time frames and tight schedules
- Strong understanding of Western market and/or culture
- Expertise and passion for games of diverse genres across various platforms
